2024 TCWIB Employers of the Year

Every year the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board, Inc. gives an Employer of the Year Award in Armstrong, Butler, and Indiana Counties for employers who have significantly contributed to the workforce development system within the region.  This award highlights the collaboration of business and workforce development in the three counties. This past year two of our manufacturing consortium members won this wonderful award. In Armstrong County the Employer of the year was SinterMet, LLC and in Butler County it was Cleveland-Cliffs Butler Works. 

SinterMet, LLC is a global manufacturer of tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, and ceramic rolls for bar, rod, and wire rolling in ferrous and nonferrous rolling mills.They have been part of the Armstrong County Community for almost 50 years. SinterMet has led the market with superior products, solution-based engineering, on-time delivery and customer service. With a name that is derived from the combination of the terms “sinter” and “metal”, SinterMet has earned an excellent reputation as an industry leader. SinterMet has sixty-nine employees.  

Cleveland-Cliffs Butler Works is the last producer of Grain Oriented Electrical Steels (GOES) in the United States. The product produced at this plant by the highly skilled workforce and members of the UAW Local 3303 is used to make transformers that power our electrical grid and sustain our national growth and security. Cleveland-Cliffs Butler Works has been a staple in this community for over I00 years. The Butler Works currently employs 1,200 men and women that have a direct impact on our community.
